The Leonid Meteor Shower of 2001 was the best in a series of predicted showers over a several year period. The real peak of the 33-year cycle of the Leonid occurred in 1999 over the Middle East and Europe. The best for North America happened during the 2001 encounter. There were times when I could not count them fast enough. This image was taken near the peak and has at least 7 meteors in it. Weather Conditions: Some high clouds but they did not hamper the viewing of the meteors, 50 degrees F
