Title: Leonid Meteor Shower SW New Mexico, USA: November 2001
The Leonid Meteor Shower of 2001 was the best in a series of predicted showers over a period of several years. The real peak of the 33-year Leonid cycle occurred in 1999 over the Middle East and Europe. The best viewing for North America happened during the 2001 encounter. There were times when I could not count them fast enough. This image was taken near the peak and contains at least 7 meteors.
Weather Conditions: Some high clouds but they did not hamper the viewing of the meteors, 50 degrees F.
